Once upon a time, There was a family of three and in a barren island with nothing on it. There were Tu’i Tongan men and the king landed on that island. They found the family and they were respectful but the king needed food. So the father looked for food but there was none so they sacrificed their only daughter to feed the king. They buried the daughter and Plants started to grow and that is what they fed the king. One of the plants was so from now on they honor the daughter and that's why kava is important to Tonga.
